Darci Vierra: Back on the field … and then back off the field

Since my post last Tuesday, I’ve had some good news and some bad news. Good news was that the doctor finally cleared me to play again, so I was able  to play against East Bridgewater! Bad news, however, was that we lost, 3-0. To someone just looking at the score it might seem as if my team didn’t put up much of a fight, but the game really was pretty even. Our downfall, as usual, was that we couldn’t finish the ball. We rebounded the next week though with a 5-0 win against Hull and a 2-0 win against Mashpee. Against Mashpee, I assisted the first goal and scored the second. But, this is where my bad news comes back into play. With three minutes left in the game, I managed to get a concussion. Bundesliga, Matchday 5: Duisburg continues hot run

By Olaf Goldbecker

1.FFC Frankfurt v SC Bad Neuenahr 2:0 (0:0)

Frankfurt continues to win games in an unconvincing way. A crossbar shot by Lira Bajramaj after a wrong free kick decision was the best Frankfurt had to show in the first half, while Bad Neuenahr had a few chances on counter attacks. In the second half, the home team got stronger but still was not playing like a top team. A more than doubtful penalty decision helped them to get on track, Sandra Smisek converted after 71 minutes. Japanese defender Saki Kumagai decided the game with six minutes left on the clock.

By Dan Hajducky

Yale vs. Harvard is an athletic rivalry that has been storied since the beginning of American collegiate sports history.  The names of the two schools side by side on the scoreboard elicit ancient emotion from bystanders.  Harvard opened their halls to students in 1636, and Yale in 1701, and their first athletic competition against each other was on the football gridiron in 1875.

Harvard came out on top tonight on this picture-perfect fall New England day. Peyton Johnson scored the winning goal off of a penalty kick to lead the Crimson to a 2-1 overtime win over the Bulldogs. Read the rest of this page »
