Olympique Lyonnais cared for an end of the German dominance in the Women’s Champions League. With a 2-0 win against Turbine Potsdam, they took revenge for the loss after a penalty shootout in the previous season. A goal by Lyon’s Wendie Renard off a free kick by Sonia Bompastor in the 60th minute of Sunday’s match against Montpellier secured Olympique Lyonnais’ fifth consecutive Division 1 Féminine championship. Last week, Lyon advanced to the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarterfinals with a 1-0 win (1-0 aggregate) over Russian side Zvezda Perm. Lyon will face Arsenal in the quarterfinals in mid-April. Also last week, Lyon knocked Umea from the top of the European Club Ranking.
