Arsenal, Barnet, Bristol, and Liverpool advance to FA Cup semfinals

The FA Cup semifinalists are set after this afternoon’s Sixth Round games. Barnet continued its recent run of victories, this time taking out West Ham, 3-2. Barnet beat Birmingham City in the fifth round and earlier this week beat Nottingham Forest to win the Premier League Cup. Also in Sunday’s FA Cup Sixth Round, Arsenal needed extra time to beat Sunderland, 3-2; Bristol Academy edged Milwall Lionesses LFC, 2-1; and Liverpool topped Doncaster, 3-0. (more…)

Arsenal ousts Everton, Barnet upsets Birmingham in FA Cup fifth round

Arsenal set out for revenge on FA Cup holders Everton on Sunday and that’s just what they got. Rachel Yankey and former Chicago Red Stars midfielder Katie Chapman both scored in Arsenal’s 2-0 win, knocking out Everton and advancing to the sixth round. Doncaster got a goal off a free kick from Vicky Exley and held on to beat Chelsea, 1-0. Other winners included West Ham, Millwall, Liverpool, Bristol Academy, Sunderland, and Barnet FC. (more…)

Arsenal vs. Everton highlight FA Women’s Cup fifth round

Last year’s FA Women’s Cup winners Everton and the 2010 runners-up Arsenal will not meet again this year in the FA Cup final. Instead, the two rivals will face each other in Sunday’s FA Cup fifth round. And this year, as opposed to year’s past, the two teams that qualify for the Champions League will be the two teams that make it to the FA Cup finals, so either Arsenal or Everton will be eliminated from Champions League contention.
