Tina Ellertson, Atlanta Beat terminate contract, magicTalk signs three more players

Tina Ellertson and the Atlanta Beat have mutually terminated their contract, while magicTalk SC signed Megan Schnur, Sarah Huffman, and Australian Lisa DeVanna, who has played the past two years with the club formerly known as the Washington Freedom. In other WPS news, the league officially announced that the Atlanta Beat signed Cat Whitehill and that Sky Blue FC has signed Swedish international Therese Sjögran, who join the team in Turkey next month. WPS officially announces a number of magicTalk SC signings

After nearly two months of speculation and rumors as to which players would end up on magicTalk SC/Washington Freedom, Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) officially announced a number of signings Thursday and Friday. Shannon Boxx, Marian Dalmy, Ella Masar, Rebecca Moros, Christie Rampone, Lindsay Tarpley, and Kacey White have all signed with magicTalk SC. (more…)

One day after Marta’s contract was acquired by the WNY Flash of Women’s Professional Soccer, rumors of a Marta for Abby Wambach (magicTalk SC) trade surfaced. That was cleared up Wednesday afternoon by magicTalk SC owner Dan Borislow. (more…)


Dan Borislow talks about Marta’s signing with WNY Flash

Just four days ago, magicTalk SC owner Dan Borislow talked about wanting to sign five-time FIFA World Player of the Year, Brazilian Women’s National Team forward Marta. But Tuesday night, the Western New York Flash announced that they had acquired Marta, taking over the third year of her contract. Late Tuesday night, Borislow told Our Game Magazine in an email: “This came as a total surprise. I am glad she will be playing in the league. She will discover we are the team to beat, so I hope she is at the top of her game when she plays us.”


magicTalk SC/Washington Freedom start building roster

The magicTalk SC/Washington Freedom’s general manager and head coach were revealed during Friday’s WPS Draft. Christie Rampone’s signing was officially announced Monday, and one additional player – Lindsay Tarpley – will soon join the team. (more…)
