Furthering women's soccer like no magazine has done before

magicJack owner Dan Borislow hit with fine, suspension

Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) announced on its website Sunday that magicJack owner Dan Borislow has been fined 10,000 and has been “suspended from serving in any technical capacity for magicJack for two (2) games, effective immediately.” This is for what WPS states as: “public statements (made by Borislow) that are derogatory and not in the best interests of the league.” This is the third time that magicJack has been penalized this season.

The previous action taken against magicJack was handed out two weeks ago. According to WPS: “As an escalated penalty for continuing non-compliance with league standards in Week 5, magicJack has lost one (1) point in the 2011 WPS Standings and the team’s right to its third round draft pick in the 2012 WPS Draft.”

Prior to that, WPS stated: “As an escalated penalty for continuing non-compliance with league standards in Week 4, magicJack has lost the team’s right to its final (fourth) round draft pick in the 2012 WPS Draft.”

magicJack lost, 3-0, Sunday night against the Western New York Flash in a battle of the unbeatens. The first-place Flash now have a 5-0-1 record (16 points), while magicJack is tied for second place (3-1-0, 8 points) with the Philadelphia Independence (2-1-2, 8 points) following Philadelphia’s 1-1 draw against Boston Sunday afternoon.

  1. Serves him right. To bad he got involved in this league, bringing such negative publicity to it.

I agree- Danjack has been bad news for a while now. PTL that Christie Rampone is coaching, so maybe the players can be protected from some of Danjack’s nonsense! They all deserve better! It’s time to bring the FREEDOM home to DC!
