Arsenal ousts Everton, Barnet upsets Birmingham in FA Cup fifth round
Arsenal set out for revenge on FA Cup holders Everton on Sunday and that’s just what they got. Rachel Yankey and former Chicago Red Stars midfielder Katie Chapman both scored in Arsenal’s 2-0 win, knocking out Everton and advancing to the sixth round. Doncaster got a goal off a free kick from Vicky Exley and held on to beat Chelsea, 1-0. Other winners included West Ham, Millwall, Liverpool, Bristol Academy, Sunderland, and Barnet FC.
Barnet came back from a goal down to upset Birmingham City, 2-1. After Emily Westwood scored for Birmingham in the first half, Barnet’s Dee Smith and Stacy Sowden scored in the second half to give Barnet the win … Jess Fishlock, Helen Bleazard, and Ann-Marie Heatherson each scored twice, and Molly Clark and Lauren Dykes added a goal apiece in Bristol Academy’s 8-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday … Emma Beckett and Danielle Puddefoot both scored two goals, while Kate Longhurst scored the fifth and final goal in a 5-0 win by Millwall Lionesses over Watford … Ruesha Littlejohn scored a hat trick and Katie Brusell and Suzanne Lappin scored once each in Liverpool’s 5-0 win over Charlton … Sunderland’s Sophie Williams hit the game-winner in the 71st minute to give her team a 1-0 win over Lincoln … Jo Woodgates struck for a late goal to give West Ham a 1-0 win over Enfield.
