LdB FC Malmö wins Jitex Cup

Swedish club Jitex BK of Damallsvenskan organized a four-team tournament that took place over the weekend at Valhalla Stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden, and the Swedish club made it to the finals before losing, 3-0, to reigning Damallsvenskan champions LdB FC Malmö.

LdB FC Malmö got a goal each from Manon Melis, Elin Rubensson, and Amanda Ilestadts in the all-Sweden final. In the third-place match, Norwegian side Kolbotn (third place in the 2010 Toppserien table) beat Fortuna Hjørring (2009-10 champions of Elitedivisionen in Denmark). In the 2-1 win, Megan Manthey scored first for Fortuna, but Andrine Hegerberg tied the game before Line Smørsgård scored the game-winner.

Fortuna lost, 2-0, to Malmö in their game on Saturday. Melis and Lina Nilsson scored for Malmö. Kolbotn lost 6-4 on penalties against Jitex after the two teams played to a 2-2 draw during regulation. Kajsa Kestrel scored both goals for Malmö before full time. Smørsgård scored both goals for Kolbotn.
