VfL Wolfsburg and 1.FFC Frankfurt dominate the offseason moves in German Bundesliga. Wolfsburg adds another spectacular move and is about to buy National Team player Lena Goessling out of her contract with SC Bad Neuenahr. The North Germans offered the defensive mid a three-year contract. The move can be seen under the background that Wolfsburg recently added Mark-Oliver Stricker as assistant coach, Goessling’s former youth coach.

Just a few days after locking in top striker Conny Pohlers, Vfl Wolfsburg has signed central defender Josephine Henning from Turbine Potsdam. The 22-year-old played for Potsdam for the past two years, has two caps for German Women’s National Team, and is currently on Germany’s preliminary World Cup roster. (more…)

VfL Wolfsburg was catching the attention in German women’s soccer with two recent signings. Joining the club will be Conny Pohlers of 1.FFC Frankfurt. Pohlers, a former Atlanta Beat player in the WUSA, finished the season as the top striker with 25 goals. She recently verbally attacked German National Team coach Silvia Neid for not being named to the World Cup roster. (more…)

Germany National Team forward and veteran Martina Müller extended her contract with VfL Wolfsburg by two years. Müller joined Wolfsburg in 2005 and has been a constant top striker since. The 30-year-old is signed until June 2013. Also adding one more year with her present club is national team backup goalkeeper Lisa Weiss. The 23-year-old has been competing for SG Essen-Schönebeck since 2007.

One week before the final matchday, the title race is still open. Both Frankfurt and Potsdam continued their streak and cared for postponing the decision on the championship to next weekend. Turbine Potsdam defended its top position easily, smashing host Bayer Leverkusen, 7-1, in front of their record crowd of 1,950. The second line of players had their big day. Team captain Jennifer Zietz, defensive midfielder, had a hat trick, while Viola Odebrecht continued her good shape and added a pair. (more…)

Now there are only two games left to play, and still neither Potsdam nor Frankfurt are showing any weaknesses. Both teams dominated their games and won very evidently. On the bottom end of the standings, Herforder SV now is without a mathematical chance to stay in the league. Turbine Potsdam had a home game against struggling 1.FC Saarbrücken. Two goals before halftime led the way, and after the break they demolished their relegation endangered opponent. Japanese international Yuki Nagasato scored a hat trick within 22 minutes. Norwegian Women’s National Team forward Melissa Wiik has left VfL Wolfsburg (Bundesliga) and returned to Norway in order to not lose her spot on the national team heading into the 2011 Women’s World Cup. In other news out of Bundesliga, SC Bad Neuenahr has suspended Claudia Götte. The 18-year-old Götte is a member of Germany’s U-19 National Team. Götte, who recently returned from a long-term injury, has had a number of incidents within the team, according to the coaching staff, and the team has offered her to other clubs.
