U.S. Soccer news: More than $20,000 raised in jersey auction; U-20 roster named for Japan friendlies
The U.S. Women’s National Team auctioned off game-worn autographed jerseys over the past week, and the online auction ended Monday night, and a total of $20, 597.44 was raised for the Shirts Off Their Backs auction. The proceeds will go to the American Red Cross, benefiting tsunami relief efforts in Japan. USWNT keeper Hope Solo’s jersey garnered the most money ($3,050). All jerseys went for more than $500. Also on Tuesday, U.S. Soccer announced the roster for the upcoming U-20 WNT camp in Chula Vista, California. (more…)
U.S. U20s heading to Spain for tournament in La Manga
Following a training camp that ran through Feb. 20 in Chula Vista, Calif., the U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team will head to Spain to play in La Manga against U-20 teams from Norway, Sweden, and England. The four-team tournament runs from March 4-March 8. (more…)
